Clarissa Zhang is a Chinese independent film producer, and a graduate of the Shanghai Film Academy, where she studied Scriptwriting and Directing. She is an alumna of Berlinale Talents and Talents Tokyo, with a focus on auteur-driven cinema and stories rooted in contemporary Asian perspectives.

Her producing credits include Cathy Yan's DEAD PIGS (2018), winner of the Special Jury Award at Sundance Film Festival, and National Geographic Channel’s documentary series ROUTE AWAKENING (2014), recipient of Asian Television Award. She co-produced Michelle Zhou's BIG LITTLE THINGS (2026), selected for the Orizzonti section of the Venice International Film Festival, as well as Wang Qi's Japanese-Chinese-Korean co-production feature GHOST OF UENO (2026).

 

As a director, her short documentary SHANGHAI QUARANTOPIA (2023) was selected for the Short Joy section of the Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival.

She is currently producing THE SILENT FIRE, directed by Baer Xiao, which was selected for the Golden Horse Film Project Promotion 2025 and received the Cineaste Award at the Eye Catcher Global–SGIFF Pitching Forum 2025.
